Early death is the reality in Sierra Leone; life expectancy is 55 years.
In 2020, Sierra Leone had the worst infant mortality rate in the world.
A woman of childbearing age has a 1 in 20 chance of dying during pregnancy, childbirth, or in the following weeks (in the US, it’s 1 in 4000).
Only 7% of people needing operations receive them.
Suffering.
But there is reason for hope and potential for change!
Healing has Begun!
Over 22 years, the Susu Gospel Ministry has built and sustained:
Three Churches
Three Primary Schools
A six-bed medical clinic serving:
7000 patients annually
80,000 patients since opening
The schools are thriving and the medical clinic is full. SGM’s mission to serve the vulnerable and poor with compassion and love draws people in need to the clinic from near and far.
Now there is a need to expand the medical services!
A Place of Healing.
Dr. Sesay envisions a new facility for surgical care:
• Susu Gospel Hospital will be the highest quality hospital in the region
• The hospital project will build on the success and sustainability of SGM’s Modia General Clinic and will be located within walking distance of the clinic.
• The Hospital will provide medical training, spreading the model and raising the standard of care outside the region.
• The Susu Gospel Ministry’s mission to care for all tribes and religions will be integrated into every aspect of the project, mirroring God’s universal love.
Susu Gospel Hospital Phase One will provide complete medical care including:
Operating suite
Blood bank
Pharmacy
Laboratory Testing
Ultrasound and X-ray Imaging
This first phase of SGH will triple the number of patients served by the currently operating Modia Clinic.
